About Amsterdam

Our trendy capital is not just surrounded by fairy tale canals and bridges, but is also the ideal place to indulge in art, culture and an exciting nightlife. Amsterdam was first formed where the Amstel river joins the “Ij” and Amsterdam’s name was subsequently created. Originally it was a small fisherman’s village, but during the Golden Age the city developed rapidly. All the nice areas such as the “Jordaan” do still contain that village feeling and the city’s tolerating and liberal views mean everybody feels at home.
